Mary is indispensable for Focus Feedback, if she were not there, everything would go wrong. It is not only of great importance for practical matters, it also ensures that no one can go a year without being seen with proper attention.
If you could take your colleagues all over the world for a day, where would we go?
“Then we go to Switzerland, I fell in love with it when we lived there. It is so clean and lovely, but rugged through the mountains at the same time. If I could take my colleagues there, I want to show them how beautiful and pure Switzerland is. If I could call it a 2nd place, it would be Playa Lagun in Curaçao. That is a very small beach with high rocks. Chickens roam freely and you can snorkel among the most beautiful fish and turtles. Then you really feel that you are one with nature. ”
For Focus Feedback it is sometimes also necessary to travel to our customers in another country. Mary has already travelled a few times, including to Sweden, Denmark, Luxembourg, Switzerland and Singapore.
How do you like going to a customer in another country?
“It is nice to be able to make the connection with the customers who are normally at a distance. We then discuss personal experiences and things that you encounter. But what you mainly feel is the enthusiasm of the customer. Then I am very proud when I see how small we started. ”
At Focus Feedback we are busy with feedback every day. And when you look at everything around you, feedback is somewhat interwoven in everything. We asked Mary about the best feedback she has ever received.
“I help an Afghan lady to learn the Dutch language as a volunteer. She said to me: “if I have my diploma later, half of the diploma will also be yours.” I thought that was a very nice compliment. I see up close that people who later become residents of the Netherlands have to fight to get to the same level as a resident of the Netherlands from birth. They are lagging behind and face discrimination. I hope to help them get more fair opportunities. If, as in this example, I get back that someone feels familiar and calm with me, it gives me a lot of energy. ”
What else gives you energy?
“Genuine interest in people. At Focus Feedback, this applies to both customers and employees. Really listening to what someone wants and what someone is doing. This ensures connection and a pleasant working environment. People want to feel heard and be appreciated.”
